October 2020 Outdoor Prototype Program

Facebook_2020.jpg

Thank you to all the artists that performed (or who had planned to perform) at our October 24-25 outdoor prototype program at Fort Mason. Thanks as well to the staff and volunteers that worked on the event and especially the members of the public who attended (both in-person and online). It was a very successful exercise in testing the safety protocols we had put in place and we met our organizational goals in staging the program.

Finally, special thanks to Mrs. Kathryn Kirkpatrick of Bay Street, San Francisco who, in responding to the above story in the San Francisco Examiner, encapsulated in her comments to the editor what many attendees at our safe event were also wondering when they looked across the meadow at a neighboring activity:

I live on Bay St. directly across from the Ft. Mason meadow. This event is nothing compared to what happens on the meadow every Saturday -- 250 to 300 people gather to picnic and party. Few masks, no social distancing, lots of alcohol. If anyone needs proof, visit early on Sunday morning before the park maintenance crew has cleaned up the mountains of trash they leave behind -- wine bottles, beer bottles, beer cans, pizza boxes and containers from every other kind of takeout food.
If this weekly event is no problem for the authorities why quibble about an arts festival?
